Posh welcome Stockport County to the Weston Homes Stadium on Thursday evening in Sky Bet League One action (8pm).

Peterborough United are back in Sky Bet League One action on Thursday evening as Luke Williams' side welcome high-flying Stockport County to the Weston Homes Stadium (8pm).

Posh go into the game on the back of three successive victories in all competitions with the latest success coming in the Vertu Trophy at Sky Bet League Two side Crawley Town.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of defenders Rio Adebisi, George Nevett, Sam Hughes and winger Cian Hayes due to injury, while midfielder Matt Garbett will be assessed as he has been in America with his country, New Zealand, starting the first game with Columbia and coming on as a second half substitute against Ecuador.

Owen Dodgson returns to the Hatters after serving a suspension following a red card, while Benony Breki Andresson is also available after international duty.

ONE TO WATCH

Malik Mothersille

Jamaica international Malik Mothersille (pictured below) joined County in July 2025, becoming the Club’s new record signing in the process. Signing from fellow League One side Peterborough United, the undisclosed fee paid for Malik’s services eclipsed the £800,000 paid to Nottingham Forest for Ian Moore in 1998.

It represented a big investment from the Club into one of the brightest young prospects in the Football League, with 21-year-old Malik enjoying an outstanding final season at Peterborough. Also capable of playing out wide or as a number 10, Malik’s performances last season saw him receive international acclaim after being called up to the Jamaican national team by Steve McClaren, making his debut for the Reggae Boyz against Nigeria in May.

Ben Woods celebrates scoring against Stockport County

Ben Woods and Brandon Khela scored their first goals for the club as Posh beat league leaders Stockport County 3-0 at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Peterborough United made it four wins from four in all competitions and took their tally to eight from their last two Sky Bet League One fixtures after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Stockport County at the Weston Homes Stadium.

It was a superb night for Luke Williams' side who shone in front of the TV cameras with the other goal on the night coming from Kyrell Lisbie. Posh defended well against a side stacked full of attacking talent with Alex Bass making a couple of fine stops when called upon.

The deadlock was broken on five minutes and it was an excellent flowing move that was finished off by Ben WOODS, who calmly stroked the ball into the bottom corner with his right-foot.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan fired over on 19 minutes and Archie Collins also struck an effort over the top as Posh continued to press for a second goal. That goal arrived on 36 minutes, Morgan's effort was parried by Hinchcliffe and LISBIE was there to fire home the rebound from a tight angle.

The snow began to fall midway through the first half, but that didn't prevent Posh from continuing to play the better football against a side that remain favourites for promotion.

Substitute Nathan Lowe saw a header saved by Bass on 49 minutes while Jack Diamond sent a 25-yard shot straight at the Posh keeper.

The third goal arrived on 76 minutes as KHELA arrived at the right time to slam the ball into the roof of the net following a shot from Woods that arrowed across the box.

Substitute Declan Frith was denied by the legs of goalkeeper Hinchcliffe and was inches away moments later as Posh threatened a fourth goal, but in the end three was more than enough for three more points.

Posh: Bass, Collins, Odoh (sub Khela 66min), Lees, Woods, Lisbie (sub O’Brien-Brady 82min), Mills, Morgan (sub Frith 81min), Leonard (sub Lindgren 73min), O’Connor, Kioso. Unused subs: Reyes, Johnston.
