Harry Leonard proved the matchwinner as Posh secured an important win on the road on Tuesday evening.
Peterborough United returned to winning ways after a vital 2-1 victory at the Select Car Leasing Stadium as a second half strike from Harry Leonard secured all three points for Luke Williams side.
In truth, it was three points that Posh deserved, particularly for their second half display, as a run of four games without a win was ended in fine style in Berkshire.
Posh got the perfect start to the contest and received a bit of luck that they have been craving for, Kyrell Lisbie did superbly down the left, his cross was headed goal-wards by Leonard and struck the onrushing MORGAN on the leg before rolling into the back of the net.
Lisbie curled wide after good work from Archie Collins and Morgan while Alex Bass at the other end was largely untested with only strikes from distance to deal with.
After the break, Charlie Savage tested Bass again from distance before a mix-up at the back allowed Royals front man Kevlin EHIBHATIOMHAN to poke the home side level..
However, Posh got their noses back in front as LEONARD collected as pass, shifted the ball inside and drilled a low shot past the keeper and into the bottom corner.
Savage fired a free-kick over the bar after a foul by Mills before substitute Donay O'Brien-Brady fired straight at the goalkeeper after good work from Matt Garbett.
In six minutes of stoppage time, Bass was only called upon once, in the right place at the right time to claim a header from a corner kick.
Posh: Bass, Kioso, Lees, Okagbue, Mills, Collins, Woods (sub Khela 74min), Lisbie, Leonard (sub Lindgren 82min), Frith (sub Garbett 62min), Morgan (sub O'Brien-Brady 62min). Unused subs: Reyes, Odoh Dornelly.
