PIMS Park, home of Peterborough Sports

Posh continue their preparations for the new Sky Bet League One campaign with a trip to nearby Peterborough Sports on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

Peterborough United make the short trip to Pims Park to face Peterborough Sports on Tuesday evening for a pre-season friendly (7.45pm) with the Enterprise National League side facing their second Sky Bet League One side in a few days following a visit from Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Sports proved to be a tough test for Grant McCann's side with the game ending in a 1-1 draw. Posh were 1-0 winners at Ipswich Town in a behind closed doors friendly on Saturday with Bradley Ihionvien on target.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are expected to start with the team that played the final 30 minutes against the Tractor Boys with Ihionvien, Abraham Odoh, Cian Hayes and Nick Bilokapic set to be part of that XI.

Defender Sam Hughes is nearing a return to match action after a minor operation during the summer but won't feature against Sports with Rio Adebisi and Will Blackmore also ruled out.

Sports strengthened their squad with the arrival of former Posh front man Shaquille Coulthirst last week and he is expected to play against his former side.

MANAGER QUOTES

"There were plenty of positives from the weekend game against Ipswich and we will look to take that into this game against Peterborough Sports, who are always very competitive. It is another opportunity for our supporters to see us in action locally and I am sure it will be a good crowd," Darren Ferguson said.

TICKET INFORMATION

Tickets in advance are priced at £8 for adults with Under 18s admitted FREE of charge. The price rises to £11 for adults on the night with children still admitted for free.

Posh players celebrate scoring against Peterborough Sports

Bradley Ihionvien continued his fine pre-season form with a hat-trick as Posh dismantled Peterborough Sports in their latest friendly fixture.

The former Colchester United front man, who netted the winner in a behind closed doors win at Ipswich Town on Saturday, was in blistering form against Sports, scoring twice in the first half and completing his hat-trick in the second before he was replaced by Gustav Lindgren.

The Swede bagged a brace himself with two clinical finishes while Kyrell Lisbie, Abraham Odoh and Harley Mills also on target - the latter with a superb strike into the top corner.

Darren Ferguson's men could have taken the lead inside 30 seconds with Ihionvien seeing an effort cleared off the line before Archie Collins saw the rebound blocked.

Moments later though it was 1-0, IHIONVIEN dinking the ball over goalkeeper Crook with a defender on the line unable to keep the effort out.

Cian Hayes fired wide from 20-yards on 11 minutes before Nick Bilokapic made two saves in quick succession to deny Gash and Fryatt.

Crook then produced a fine save to claw away an attempted chip by Ihionvien before the hosts drew level as Max BOOTH headed home from close-range after a cross was knocked back across goal by Aaron Powell.

Parity didn't last long though as IHIONVIEN intercepted a poor back pass, rounded Crook and tapped the ball into a gaping net. Before the break it was 3-1 as ODOH cut inside onto his right-foot and found the back of the net via the inside of the post.

Posh made plenty of changes at the break and only took a minute to add to their tally as IHIONVIEN completed his hat-trick with an expert finish after good work from Hayes.

On 49 minutes, it was 5-1 and arguably the goal of the game as Harley MILLS produced a fine finish into the top corner with that wand of a left-foot.

On 64 minutes, substitute LINDGREN got his first of the night, racing onto a through ball and firing low into the bottom corner.

Five minutes from time, LINDGREN got his second, another composed finish in a 1v1 situation. The scoring was complete a minute from time as LISBIE raced clear, rounded the keeper and fired into the corner.
