Posh v Crawley Town

Posh set up tie with AFC Wimbledon in the quarter-finals of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Peterborough United are into the quarter-finals of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy after a 2-1 victory over Sky Bet League Two side Crawley Town on a blustery night at the Weston Homes Stadium and again Darren Ferguson's men had to show their battling qualities as they came from behind to secure another home success.

Ferguson had spoken about the expansive nature of the opposition and they demonstrated that adventurous approach, particularly in the first half as they expended bodies forward, pressing the Posh defence in groups of three and four on regular intervals.

However, when Posh did manage to beat that press, they caused problems, particularly through Ephron Mason-Clark on the left-hand side who linked well with Harrison Burrows throughout.

It was Mason-Clark who had the first chance of the game as he sent a powerful drive wide of the post on 17 minutes. Adeuyamo blazed over at the other end after good work from Tsaroulla down the right hand side of the Town attack.

It was TSAROULLA who opened the scoring, curling a fine effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the box on 23 minutes.

The lead lasted four minutes as skipper Harrison BURROWS cut inside onto his right-foot and saw his shot loop up off a defender and over the goalkeeper.

Malik Mothersille had a chance to put Posh ahead, but sliced wide moments later. On 36 minutes, Posh got themselves ahead as a wayward pass out of defence was latched onto by MASON-CLARK and he calmly found the corner.

Posh had penalty appeals waved away on 39 minutes after Mothersille was hauled to the ground and on the stroke of half-time, Mason-Clark fired wide of the near post after bursting into the penalty area.

Romoney Crichlow headed over in first half stoppage time from a corner kick by Ryan De Havilland while five minutes after the break, Josh Knight did well to keep out a low shot from Lolos.

Campbell fired wide on 52 minutes before Mason-Clark fired high over the crossbar on the hour mark. Orsi directed a shot straight at Steer on 69 minutes before Posh saw an effort cleared off the line as Randall's goal-bound effort was cleared after excellent work from Mothersille.

On 76 minutes, Crichlow slammed a shot against the crossbar while with one minute to play, Steer produced a fine save to keep out Roles.

With the last kick of the game, Randall had the chance to make it 3-1 but sliced horribly wide after good work from Mason-Clark.
