Posh v Doncaster Rovers

Harrison Burrows and Ephron Mason-Clark were on target as Posh moved into round three of the Emirates FA Cup.

Peterborough United can look forward to the third round draw of the Emirates FA Cup after a 2-1 success over Doncaster Rovers at the Weston Homes Stadium with Harrison Burrows and Ephron Mason-Clark on target.

It didn’t take long for Posh to open the scoring as a BURROWS cross eluded everyone and found the back of the net. Three minutes later, goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic produced a fine stop to keep out Mo Faal from close-range.

Bilokapic was at it again on 16 minutes to keep out an effort from inside the box by Molyneux while at the other end, Nixon produced a superb block to keep out Ricky-Jade Jones. On 24 minutes, Poku was inches away from doubling the lead, but his shot was diverted just wide of the post by goalkeeper Jones.

On 28 minutes, Jones was sent clean through on goal, but his shot was kept out by his namesake. Collins then saw a long-range effort clawed to safety by Jones before Anderson became the first man to go in the book for a foul.

Joel Randall saw a free-kick pushed around the post by Jones while Faal saw a snap-shot go into the side-netting. Oluwu was cautioned for a foul on Poku and on the stroke of half-time, Randall had a great chance to make it 2-0 but again Jones came to the rescue.

Mason-Clark saw a stinging drive parried by Jones three minutes into the second half, while Poku also went close. MASON-CLARK did make it 2-0 on 52 minutes, cutting inside onto his right-foot before drilling a shot into the bottom corner.

Maxwell was cautioned or a cynical foul before Posh wasted another chance to score as Jones stabbed wide after a good build-up involving Randall and Collins. Knight saw a volley blocked by Anderson before the visitors had the ball in the back of the net through Faal, but it was chalked off for offside.

On 74 minutes, FAAL did get his name on the score-sheet as he powered home a header from close-range. Posh had an immediate chance to restore the two-goal cushion but Jones saw a close-range effort repelled by the goalkeeper before Ajiboye saw an effort tipped over.
