Dan Butler began his career with Portsmouth, the club he signed for as a youngster back in 2004.
He went on to play over 50 times for the first team before his departure in 2015. After a year out of the Football League with Torquay United, Butler returned to the EFL with Newport County, and spent three seasons with the Welsh club.
He quickly became a fan favourite in Newport and was voted as their Player of the Year two seasons in a row. The left back’s final game for the Exiles was the League Two Playoff Final at Wembley, where his side suffered heartbreak in the last minute of extra time, losing 1-0 to Tranmere Rovers. He signed for the Posh on a three year deal following the expiry of his contract.
