Posh make the long trip north to face the Cod Army on Good Friday.

Peterborough United return to Sky Bet League One action on Good Friday (3pm) after a rare midweek break with a trip to Highbury to face Simon Grayson’s in-form Fleetwood Town, who have won four of their last five fixtures.

They were without a fixture last weekend due to the international break and lost their previous fixture to Swindon Town, but with Grayson now appointed manager for the long-term, there is far more stability at the club going into the final nine games.

Posh go into the game on the back of a 7-0 victory over Accrington Stanley with Jonson Clarke-Harris taking his goal tally to 27 in all competitions (25 in the league) with a hat-trick. Sammie Szmodics also netted a brace in that win.

TEAM NEWS

There is good news on the injury front with midfielder Jack Taylor available for selection after a hamstring problem. He has trained all week and has been named in the squad travelling to the North West. Meanwhile, Siriki Dembele, who missed that win over Accrington, has also returned to training and has been declared fit.

Teenage defender Ronnie Edwards is the only player currently in the treatment room although he is set to return to training on Sunday ahead of a possible return within 7-14 days. The latest round of Covid-19 testing has returned no positive tests.

Fleetwood will be without the services of experienced defender Charlie Mulgrew, who appears to have played the final game of his loan spell after picking up an Achilles injury, which could keep him out for the rest of the campaign.

FROM THE GAFFER

“Fleetwood is always a tough place to go. Simon Grayson has not been at the club long but they have picked up some good results. They have perhaps had some time on the training ground with no fixture last weekend and a break can either be detrimental or a blessing in disguise, I am sure Simon would have appreciated the time on the training ground. We have pretty much a fully fit squad to choose from and that is a great position to be in with nine games to go,” Darren Ferguson said.

MINUTE’S SILENCE

A minute’s silence will take place before Friday’s Sky Bet League One fixture with Peterborough United following the recent passing of ‘Mrs Fleetwood’, Doreen Lofthouse.

Mrs. Lofthouse, who helped transform Fisherman’s Friend into a global brand and became one of the richest people in the UK, has passed away at the age of 91.
