Posh Ladies suffer narrow 1-0 defeat to Cambridge City.

In a hugely competitive and entertaining game Cambridge City Ladies beat Peterborough United Ladies 1-0 at Nene Park Academy in the latestt cup competition.

Peterborough United Ladies absorbed the early pressure and pressed quickly on the break with Emily Smith causing problems for the Cambridge defence. The first chance fell to Eleanor Boothman who was unable to find the target when the goalkeeper was out of position. The Ladies ended the first half all level at 0-0.

In the second half both teams continued to attack and counter attack, but the opening came in the 65 minute when a miss kick resulted in the Cambridge striker slotting past the Posh goalie Amy Martin. Posh pressed forward to seek the equaliser but the strike force of Bryony Fox and Keir Perkins were just unable to find the final touch.

In a game that produced five yellow cards there was a genuine feeling by all that they were watching two very special teams. Cambridge's goalkeeper was outstanding together with their back four. All credit to the Posh Ladies for battling hard and their never give up attitude. Posh's Player of the Match was Bronwyn Mullheron.
