Peterborough United host Rochdale at the ABAX on Saturday.

Peterborough United entertain Rochdale in Sky Bet League One action at the ABAX Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm) with Graham Westley's men determined to give the supporters something to cheer about after a disappointing defeat to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday evening.

Keith Hill's men are ending the campaign in decent form and salvaged a point from last weekend's encounter with Doncaster Rovers at Spotland thanks to a 96th minute equaliser.

With Ian Henderson suspended, Dale are expected to continue to include experienced striker Grant Holt in their line-up. The former Aston Villa man rejoined the club where he made his name earlier in his career.

Posh are without the services of Jermaine Anderson, Joe Gormley and Jordan Nicholson but Jack Baldwin is expected to return to the squad after sitting out the defeat at Fleetwood with a slight knock.

Irish midfielder Chris Forrester was rested for that league encounter at Highbury and could return. Experienced midfielder Simon Gillett has extended his loan deal with the club until the end of April and could feature.

Posh boss Westley said: "Their response in training was very good, but it’s one thing training well, it’s another thing performing in a match on a Saturday when it really matters. This is an important time for many of the players here, some of whom have been here for a couple of seasons or more. I have some serious decisions to make on many players.

“This club has title ambitions next season and we only want players here who will buy into what it takes to finish first. We don’t want to carry anyone who will diminish the environment. Players must know that the team that runs the furthest in a game tends to be the team that’s trying the hardest and tends to be the team that wins matches.

“The aims for this season now are to end any lingering doubts about our League One status and then beat last season’s finishing position of ninth and beat last season’s points total of 63,” Westley said.
