Posh Held To A Stalemate

Peterborough United concluded the regular season with a 0-0 draw with Port Vale at London Road in a game of few chances.

Bobby Olejnik produced a couple of routine early stops to deny Jennison Myrie-Williams as the visitors created several half-chances in the London Road sunshine.

Louis Dodds sent a speculative volley from 25-yards over the bar on 17 minutes. McCann curled a free-kick over the top on 28 minutes, before Posh created the best opportunity of the first half.

McCann fed Vassell, but after beating the offside trap, he couldn't beat Johnson, his left-foot shot saved by the goalkeepers' legs.

Dodds fired over on 37 minutes after a good cut-back from Adam Yates before the Valiants were forced into a first switch of the afternoon with Jordan Hugill replacing Gavin Tomlin.

On the stroke of half-time, McQuoid volleyed over after good work from Vassell down the left.

At the interval, Posh made two changes with Joe Newell and Danny Swanson introduced from the bench.

Jermaine Anderson flashed a shot over the bar from a tight angle after a good flick on from Vassell two minutes after the re-start. Anderson then fired over after good work from Santos as Posh played with more purpose in a diamond formation.

Vassell blazed over after good work from substitute Newell on 64 minutes. Myrie-Williams fired over after a mistake from McCann before the winger was replaced by Chris Shuker by Valiants boss Micky Adams.
