Gillingham v Posh | Match Preview

Posh travel to Gillingham on Saturday in Sky Bet League One action.

A look ahead to the Sky Bet League One clash at Gillingham.

Peterborough United make the trip to Kent to face Gillingham in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday (3pm) looking to get back to winning ways after suffering the first league defeat of the campaign against Portsmouth at the ABAX Stadium last weekend.

The Gills made a good start to the season with two victories inside the opening week, but their form has dipped in recent weeks. They sit in 20th place in the league table with seven points from their eight fixtures.

TEAM NEWS

Posh boss Steve Evans confirmed that Jason Cummings (dead leg) and goalkeeper Aaron Chapman have knocks and have been receiving treatment this week, however both are expected to recover in time for the clash with the Gills. Callum Cooke came through 90 minutes of a second string game this week unscathed.

Regan Charles-Cook’s expected return this weekend is a timely boost for Gillingham boss Steve Lovell. Charles-Cook was a key player during the early part of the season but his hamstring injury coincided with a dip in performances from Lovell’s men.

FROM THE GAFFER

“It’s a tough place to go and play. Gillingham’s fans are passionate and get right behind their team so we have to start well and keep the crowd out of the game. We’ve been excellent away from home so far this season. We seem to be well suited to playing away as four wins out of four suggests, but that doesn’t mean we have stopped looking at ways to get even better,” Steve Evans said.
