About The Programme
The Premier League Primary Stars project is delivered in co-operation with Peterborough United F.C. and the Premier League supporting primary schools with a vision to ‘use the inspiration of the Premier League and professional football clubs to create healthier and more positive futures for all children in England & Wales’.
By signing up to the programme, schools get FREE access to high quality PE provision, an excellent array of teaching resources, Teacher CPD and individual or group interventions, based around 4 Core Subjects of PE, English, Maths and PSHE.
At this stage of 2019, we are currently delivering the Teacher CPD for over 20 Primary School Teachers in many schools across the Peterborough and surrounding areas. We have been extremely pleased with our new Boxercise Intervention Programme which successfully began in October 2018, which has been implemented across all year groups at Eye CoE Primary School. We have seen an increase in English and Maths Interventions with both individuals and small groups across 8 Primary Schools within the area. These interventions use ‘Football and The Premier League’ as a resource tool for the children’s education and learning.
As part of the PLPS Programme, we are booking in Assemblies within Primary Schools to promote Respect, Positive Behaviour, Resilience, Teamwork, Values and Equality.
In association with the Premier League and Peterborough United, our mission is to develop the education programme to inspire pupils aged 5-11 to use sport to connect and progress children’s learning. Within our mission, we have a desire to teach the important of Fair play and Respect and to motivate the children to be ambitious and strive to reach their goals.
We also aim to offer a first class primary schools programme that uses the appeal of the Premier League, football and Peterborough United Football Club to improve and enhance PE and other curriculum areas, and develops the skills and values that are crucial to success in later life.
• Enhance the knowledge, skills and confidence of teachers to improve the provision of PE and School Sport;
• Increase children’s enjoyment, participation and skills in competitive and non-competitive sports and other physical activities;
• Increase children’s understanding of the personal skills and values they need to achieve their goals;
• Enhance children’s understanding of, and interest and confidence in, English and Maths;
• Support young people to follow further participation pathways in sport
