The Peterborough United under 18s were made to pay for squandering presentable opportunities in front of goal as Wycombe Wanderers produced an excellent second half display to claim all three points.

The Chairboys were under the cosh in the opening 15 minutes at Woodlands as Posh got to grips with the Youth Alliance League fixture, looking strong in midfield and dangerous in attack.

However, a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept the score at 0-0 with Edward Adjei, Jay Davies and Joe Newell all going close.

Posh shot-stopper Sam Cole had to be alert at the other end, saving well from point blank range while Carl Piergianni made two good last ditch blocks.

Wycombe made a lively start to the second period and opened the scoring after a long through ball caught out the Posh defence and Cole was beaten.

A superb free-kick from 25-yards doubled the advantage for the visitors and then as Posh were caught up field, Wycombe made it 3-0 on the counter-attack.

Christian Bulembi went close to reducing the arrears late on while Alex Austin fired wide of the near post after making good progress down the right hand side.
