Keen runner Paul Howell is in training for the Great Eastern Run on 12th October and he has pledged to give all sponsorship money raised to the Peterborough United Centre Of Excellence.

Howell, whose son is a player within the Centre, is due to complete his first ever marathon and has plenty of motivation to achieve a time of less than two hours for the gruelling run.

'At first it was just a fitness exercise that I wanted to complete, but I was speaking to Head of Youth Dave Robertson and it just seemed like the logical project to raise money for was the Centre of Excellence.

'My son is with the under 14 squad and I see the work that goes on behind the scenes of the Centre of Excellence and hopefully I can raise £1,000 for the department. I have been in training for four months and am running 30 miles a week. I am stepping it up now and my son is even joining me on a few of my jogs.

'I am really looking forward to the run, it should be a great day and it would be superb if I can reach my sponsorship target. Every little helps, so if you wish to sponsor me, please give me a call on 07785 778575,' Howell said.
