Young Duo Called Into Ireland Training Camp
Jack Lyons and Callum Reed from the Peterborough United Youth Team have been invited by the FAI to attend a training camp in Dublin with the Under 19's Squad at the end of July.
It is the first time that Reed, a local lad from Deeping, has been called up by his country. Reed (pictured) is currently away with the first team squad in Marbella. Lyons has featured previously before for the Republic of Ireland squads at under 15/16 & 17 age groups.
Head of Youth Dave Robertson told theposh.com: 'It will be a fantastic opportunity for the players to gain further experience as they are currently preparing for the 2008/09 campaign. This will be first call up for Callum a local lad from Deeping who has joined the first team this week in Marbella for pre season training and is testament to the hard work and good attitude that he has shown particularly over the last 12 months.
'The call up for the players comes at an important time in their development and will add valuable playing experience to the pair ahead of the 2008-2009 season. In addition it is great to see that Peterborough United's Youth Department producing players of the highest standard that are now being recognised on the international stage.'
Lyons, who originates from Crawley, said: 'I am very excited and looking forward to the trip, hopefully I can do well and impress the coaching staff over in Ireland.'
