Youth Team Suffer Away Defeat
The Peterborough United youth team were beaten 2-0 by Exeter City in the PUMA Youth Alliance Cup at the weekend and will be looking to bounce back against Hereford United at Huntingdon Town FC (10.30am) on Saturday.
The youngsters travelled to the South West on Friday and trained during the afternoon before preparing for the fixture. After a good professional preparation, the players were raring to go, but the hosts made a bright start and Posh struggled to get in the game.
Posh created numerous chances, but fell behind just before the half-time interval as Exeter took advantage of a set-piece situation, the central midfield firing home from long-range.
The second half followed a similar pattern with plenty of possession from the Posh youth team without testing the City goalkeeper on a regular occurrence. The chances were not converted and Posh were made to pay as Exeter added a second whilst the visitors were pressing.
'It was a poor performance and the lads will be working hard this week in training to try and put things right. We kept getting caught on the counter-attack and the lads did not convert enough of their chances. It wasn't the best result for us, but we are ready and raring to go against Hereford United this weekend,' Dave Robertson, Head of Youth told theposh.com.
