The Peterborough United youth team recorded an emphatic 7-1 friendly victory over Huntingdon Town on Thursday evening with striker Jack Lyons firing an impressive hat-trick.

Lyons (pictured) was in good form as he clinically put the hosts to the sword while other goals from Billy Crook (2), Hakeem Araba and Sean White made it a hugely satisfactory evening for the Posh youngsters.

With manager Dave Robertson installing Darren Gourlay, Sam Gaughran and Lewis Webb in charge, it was a chance for the trio to pick up a few management tips and they certainly enjoyed the task.

Gourlay said: 'It was a really good performance, we had three under 15s playing in the team and they played really well. Jordan Robertson, Matthew Cook and Ryan Cotton were the lads that were involved. It was a great chance for us to manage the side, you can see different aspects of the game and the players responded to what we were trying to tell them.

'We swapped a few of the strikers and when they had the chance to go back on, we were looking at their attitude and it was first class. We want a good attitude in the team and everyone displayed that. We showed a fine togetherness,' Gourlay told theposh.com.

Posh are next in youth action against local rivals Northampton Town on Saturday 1st September. Meanwhile, the younger age groups of the Centre of Excellence entertain Lincoln City on Sunday morning (11am) with the matches taking place at Hampton College.
