Reserves Beaten By Strong Canaries Side

Posted on: Wed 17 Mar 2010

Midfielder Josh Simpson was on target for the Peterborough United reserve team at Norwich City on Wednesday afternoon, but it was not enough to earn Posh a point from the Totesport Football Combination League clash.

Simpson opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a low shot from the edge of the area, but the Canaries, who featured Adam Drury in their starting line-up, fought back.

City got themselves level from the penalty spot after Sam Gaughran bundled over Drury with Paul McVeigh converting from 12-yards.

On 53 minutes, Norwich got themselves in front and it was unfortunate for James McKeown as Oli Johnson's header rebounded off the shot-stopper and into the net.

McKeown made two smart saves later on in the second period to deny the hosts, while at the other end, Nathan Koranteng caused one or two problems with his pace.

Posh: McKeown, Austin, Day, McCrae (sub Dove), Piergianni, Gaughran, Green, Crook, Mills (sub Newell), Simpson (sub Adjei), Koranteng. Subs not used: Bishop, Cole.
