Reserves Claim Win At Colchester

Posted on: Tue 17 Nov 2009

The Peterborough United second string continued their recent good form with a 2-1 victory over Colchester United in the latest Totesport Combination League fixture.

David Oldfield's men opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Shaun Batt had been upended by Alan Maybury. Batt stepped up and coolly slotted the ball into the corner.

Matt Heath went close to an equaliser before the U's did level the scores through Josh Payne who converted from close-range.

The winner was scored by Dominic Green who slotted home after good approach play. Ben Wright and Lee Frecklington both went close to extending the advantage, while Anthony Wordsworth was denied at the other end by James McKeown.

Posh: McKeown, Martin, Griffiths, Frecklington, Zakuani, Pearce, Simpson, Day, Wright, Batt, Green. Subs: Koranteng, McCrae, Piergianni, Dove.
