Simpson Impresses In Reserve Win

Posted on: Tue 17 Nov 2009

Josh Simpson found the back of the net as the Peterborough United second string claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory at Luton Town on Tuesday afternoon.

The midfielder, who is currently on trial from non-league Histon Town along with team-mate Danny Wright, was outstanding throughout.

David Oldfield's men opened the scoring with a close-range header from Carl Piergianni with Jamie Day the other goal-scorer.

Posh had further chances to score with Dominic Green, Paul Coutts and Jay Davies all going close. The hosts were denied on two occasions by goalkeeper James McKeown.

Luton were captained by former Posh full-back Shane Blackett.

Posh: McKeown, Martin, Griffiths, Coutts, Piergianni, Pearce, Davies, Day, D. Wright, Simpson, Green. Subs: B. Wright, McCrae, Austin, Koranteng, Cole.
