The Peterborough United reserve side were held to a goal-less draw by their Wycombe Wanderers counterparts at London Road on Wednesday afternoon in the latest Totesport Football Combination League fixture.

In a game of few chances, it was David Oldfield's side who looked the more likely to break the deadlock with Shaun Batt working hard up front, but there were no clear-cut opportunities in front of goal.

The closest either side came to scoring was a Dominic Green shot in the first half which was well saved by Wycombe goalkeeper Jamie Young. Green also went close twice in the second half with long shots while Batt saw a skidding effort pushed away by Young.

The home side had plenty of possession with new signing Andrew Crofts looking composed on the ball and not afraid to get stuck in, while Green roamed around the pitch and found pockets of space which the opposition struggled to close out.

Kwesi Appiah headed a fine Daniel Blanchett cross wide of the target, while at the other end James McKeown had a fairly easy afternoon with only a Nathan Ashton free-kick coming close to causing him any panic between the sticks.

Posh: McKeown, Reed (sub Gourlay 46min), Braham-Barrett, Crofts, Westwood, Gaughran, Green, Webb, Appiah (sub Crook 72min), Batt, Blanchett. Unused subs: Jirbandey, Ginty, Abraham.
