Midfielder Sergio Torres marked his comeback with a knee injury with the Peterborough United reserves goal in a 2-1 home reverse to Watford's second string at London Road on Wednesday.

Torres drilled home from just inside the penalty area to cap a fine first half for Posh but goals in the second half from Jobi McAnuff and Marvin Sordell gave the Hornets maximum points.

Striker Aaron Mclean performed well and lasted 70 minutes before being withdrawn by manager Darren Ferguson, but prior to his substitution, he had tested Watford goalkeeper Bo Antal on numerous occasions.

He fired over from close-range and saw two headers tipped over the crossbar, while Torres was denied three times by Antal in the first 45 minutes after good work from Daniel Blanchett.

Craig Braham-Barrett, a trialist from Welling United, performed admirably at left-back, while Shane Blackett came through unscathed at centre back after recently being sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Watford winger McAnuff scored a fine equaliser from 25-yards before Sordell converted from close-range after James McKeown had parried an initial effort from Liam Henderson.

Watford first-team boss Aidy Boothroyd watched the game from the Directors Box, while former Posh boss Keith Alexander was also an interested watcher.
