Peterborough United reserve team manager Simon Clark was impressed with how his team played against Stevenage Borough in the opening Pontin's Holiday Combination League fixture of the season.

Goals from Danny Crow, Rene Howe and a double from Alfie Potter saw Posh run out 4-1 winners at London Road on Monday evening and Clark was pleased with the impact of some of the club's youngsters in the display.

'In the first half we did pretty well, we had a good tempo and played like the first team, keeping the ball down and trying to take control. I think in the second half we took the game to Stevenage a little more and got our rewards with the goals we scored.

'Callum Reed did very well at right-back, he stood up tall, made the tackles he needed to, joined in and generally had a good game. It is important that the younger members of the squad get a chance to perform at reserve team level,' Clark added.

The next test for Clark's men will be against Luton Town on 11th September.
