Sam Gaughran was awarded his first professional contract by Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson in the summer of 2009 and the central defender will be hoping to push for a first team berth this season. A powerful presence, Gaughran is excellent in the tackle and dominant in the air and the youngster has already tasted first team action for Posh, performing well against then Scottish Champions Celtic in a pre-season friendly at London Road in the summer of 2008.
