Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has laughed off suggestions that League One rivals Leeds United may have selected him as their new manager.

Ferguson was named as a possible candidate to replace Gary McAllister as Leeds' manager before United's approach for Blackpool's Simon Grayson was confirmed.

Leeds were hoping to agree a compensation package with Blackpool which would allow Grayson to be appointed as McAllister's successor. Ferguson insists he never received an approach from Elland Road.

Ferguson said: 'I don't think there will be many Leeds fans voting for me! I had thought Simon Grayson already had the job anyway.

'But in all seriousness I have not been approached and clearly it's just another piece of speculation in the newspapers.'
