The Peterborough Evening Telegraph is encouraging supporters to purchase tickets for the four pre-season friendly matches at London Road this summer in Thursday's edition of the paper. It reads:

'TICKETS to watch Manchester United may be selling like hot cakes but Posh fans have been urged not to forget the other massive games at London Road this summer.

Almost 4,000 tickets have already been sold to those eager for a glimpse of the European and Premier League champions and the game on August 4 is expected to be a total sell-out.

But with Liverpool also due at London Road on July 19 followed by a game against a star-studded West Ham side on July 29, the club is concerned these other showpiece clashes are not forgotten by the home faithful.

Although the lure of watching Ferguson's double winners is undoubtedly a huge draw, Liverpool are likely to send a side full of internationals while West Ham are expected to field their first XI side against Posh.

And that's not forgetting the match-up with Cambridge three days before the Liverpool game, the first time Posh have had the chance to get to grips with the old enemy in over five years.

Club press officer Phil Adlam said: "We always knew the Man U game was going to be huge and so far we have sold just over 3,800 tickets and it will be a sell-out which is great, but we do have some other cracking games coming up too.

"We haven't played Cambridge for years so that will be a game we hope should attract a decent crowd, especially as it will be the first chance fans get to see any new signings like Russell Martin in a Posh shirt.

"Then it is Liverpool three days later and while it is billed as a Liverpool eleven they will still bring a team full of internationals."

However the game that is really exciting everyone at newly-promoted Posh is the clash with the Hammers at the end of July.

"The West Ham game is going to be a real showpiece as they will be playing a full strength side including Kieron Dyer, Scott Parker, Craig Bellamy, Matthew Upson and Dean Ashton," added Adlam.

"They have a team full of quality which is expected to do well this season so to have them here at London Road is a great chance for us to prove our credentials ahead of next season's Division One campaign.

"Hopefully our fans will support all these cracking games in big numbers to give the team the support they need during these key pre-season games."

Tickets for all the pre-season friendlies can be booked via the 24-hour hotline 0844 8471934.'
