Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has released the following statement in the light of a tentative enquiry made last week.

'I would like to confirm that my priority is to Peterborough United Football Club and doing what is right for us. I appreciate that in football this goes on all the time, but I am not one to be bullied into selling our best assets unless it suits us.

'The sooner the summer comes to a close and the new season starts, the better, so we can get on with achieving our third promotion campaign!'

It has since been confirmed by Reading to the Director of Football Barry Fry that Darren is not on their shortlist of four for an interview for the vacant manager position.
