Although last Saturday's result against MK Dons went against us there was plenty of positives for the club as a whole. From a playing point of view the general consensus from the players was that for the majority of the game we were probably just about the better of the two teams, however we let our standards slip in a 10 minute spell during the second half and against a team of such quality we were made to pay.

One aspect of the game which surprised me more than any was the sheer pace at which the entire match was played. I was speaking to Micah Hyde after the game and he mentioned that the game was played at a pace more akin to the Championship rather than League Two.

This says a lot for the quality and fitness levels of both teams. I think the relentless pace of the game was also helped by the MK Dons willingness to press us high up the pitch, most teams come to London Road and allow us to dominate possession of the ball at the back and in midfield in the hope of frustrating us and possibly holding out for a draw, but they did not which speaks volumes about the belief they have in their own ability at the moment.

The atmosphere for Saturday's game was fantastic. With over 10,000 fans turning up, it says a lot for the strides the club are taking that we can attract such a crowd. Even though the result was not the one we were after the performance was still a good one and I know for a fact the players appreciated the magnificent support they received from the fans.

The festive period is a critical time for us and will no doubt play a big part in where we finish the season. We have another home test this Saturday against Bradford, another big home crowd would be a boost and will hopefully help the boys to a crucial victory.
