Gavin Strachan has signed an extension to his contract keeping him at London Road until June 2008 following an impressive few months at Peterborough United.

Gavin Strachan and Darren Ferguson

Strachan initially signed a contract until the end of the current campaign following his release from Hartlepool United, but after two goals and some excellent displays at the heart of the midfield, manager Darren Ferguson has extended his deal.

Strachan, speaking exclusively to theposh.com, said: 'I am delighted to sign for another year. The way things are going at the club at the moment, I would be foolish not to want to stay. It is an exciting time and I am pleased to be involved.

'I have been enjoying my football and I am enjoying the way the football is being played at the minute. We have picked up some excellent results of late and we need to carry that on,' Strachan said.

Manager Ferguson added: 'I have been impressed with Gavin in training and in matches, scoring a few goals in the process and I am delighted to have him on board for another year. He has been a big plus for me and his attitude is first-class.'
