Peterborough United have completed the signing of defender Tim Ryan until the end of the season with the former Doncaster Rovers left-back bringing a wealth of experience to the squad.

The 31-year-old has been training with Posh for several weeks and has earned a short-term contract. Ryan helped Doncaster claim successive promotions in the past two seasons and Posh boss Steve Bleasdale insists he has signed a 'winner'.

'Tim is a player who I know well. He is a winner, he has a great left-foot and can play at either left-back or at centre half. A few teams were after him, but we have done a short term deal and it is a good signing.

'He is very experienced and that is one of the reasons why I have brought him in because we are at the business end of the season now. He has boosted the squad and hopefully he won't be the last of the signings before the deadline,' Bleasdale told theposh.com.

Ryan commented: 'I had an Achilles injury at Doncaster, but I have worked hard at Lilleshall and have been training with Posh in the last couple of weeks. They are a good bunch of lads and hopefully I can bring a bit of experience to the club at this time of the campaign.

'I won successive promotions with Doncaster and to get promotion you need a strong team spirit and judging by what I have already seen, Peterborough certainly have that. I have got to continue working hard and first of all win a place in the team,' Ryan told theposh.com.

Ryan will wear the number 30 shirt at London Road.
