Johnson: 'Tranmere Will Be A Tough Test'

Posted on: Wed 01 Sep 2010

Peterborough United are on the road again this weekend as Gary Johnson's side take on Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park (3pm).

Johnson believes Tranmere will provide tough opposition for his side and insists that his team will need to perform at their best to achieve a positive result.

'Tranmere are struggling at the minute and were knocked out of the Johnstone Paint Trophy at the hands of Accrington Stanley, but they will still prove to be tough opponents for us and we will need to perform at a high standard to achieve the result we are looking for.

'The result and performance at Bournemouth was nowhere near good enough, but there are circumstances to that loss and I will reveal why later on when I feel it is right.

'Our display at Plymouth was good and we need to carry that into this weekend. I have got the reports on Tranmere and we will know what to expect,' Johnson said.

Posh will be without the services of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Lee Frecklington and will possibly be missing Grant McCann and Gabriel Zakuani due to international duty. Chris Whelpdale is back in the squad after a long lay-off.
