Mendez-Laing Ruled Out

Posted on: Wed 01 Sep 2010

Peterborough United winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing will miss up to two weeks of action after sustaining a knee injury in training this week.

There is better news on Mark Little, who manager Gary Johnson believes could return inside three weeks following a successful operation.

'The medical people reckon between four and six weeks, but the last time Mark had an injury like this he was back inside three weeks, so fingers crossed Mark is right,' Johnson said.

Chris Whelpdale should be back in the squad for the weekend trip to Tranmere Rovers after completing training this week, while the Posh boss confirmed that Gabriel Zakuani is now fully fit.

'Gabriel is fully fit and available to be selected, but this weekend he is expected to be away on international duty with Congo for a game against Cameroon. That will be good for him to get another game under his belt, but does mean we will be without him.

'We are still hopeful that Grant McCann may be in the squad for us on Saturday because the Northern Ireland game is on Friday and their flight lands in Manchester. We are sending a car to pick him up and we will assess him at Prenton Park because he may be ready to be involved one way or another,' Johnson said.
