Peterborough United showed tremendous character once again to come back from 1-0 down to reach round three of the Carling Cup at the expense of Cardiff City.

Craig Mackail-Smith levelled the scores with an unstoppable left-foot strike and with the game heading for extra-time, Boyd popped up to curl a right-foot shot into the top corner from 20-yards.

Boyd admitted that his goal was one of his best, but not at the top of his list. 'It is probably around sixth place on the list,' Boyd joked. 'In all seriousness, I was really happy with it, the ball kind of got stuck under my feet and I just had a go.

'I was delighted to see the ball go into the back of the net and relieved that we wouldn't have to play extra-time! I think we deserved the win for our second half performance.

'What we need to do now is get it right for the full 90 minutes. I really cannot explain why we are taking so long to get into games and we need to start playing from the first whistle.

'We have unbelievable confidence in the camp, we believe that if we concede three goals, we will score four, but we obviously need to find the right balance.

'We have Plymouth away on Saturday and we will go there with confidence, we just need to get the mentality right for away matches and take our form from home matches into our away games,' Boyd said.
