Posh Face Bluebirds In Carling Cup

Posted on: Wed 11 Aug 2010

Peterborough United will entertain Championship side Cardiff City in the second round of the Carling Cup after the draw was made live on Sky Sports News.

The Bliebirds, who were on the wrong end of one of the better performances in the Championship from Posh last term when Posh bounced back from 4-0 down to earn an unlikely draw, progressed into the second round following a 4-1 win over Burton Albion.

Manager Gary Johnson, speaking exclusively to theposh.com following the completion of the draw, said: 'It is a tie to look forward too, it is a team not in our league and I prefer to play teams from a different division.

'Cardiff always have a good following so I am sure it will be a good game when it comes around. I know Dave Jones very well too and I know he will want to progress as far as they can.

'The big thing is that you are at home, that is what you look for when the draw is made. Cardiff are a good footballing side and I am sure it will be an attractive tie to watch for the paying public.

'The last time Posh played Cardiff the lads came back from 4-0 down and drew 4-4, so I am sure many supporters remember that,' Johnson.
