Langmead Delight At Comfortable Win

Posted on: Sat 07 Aug 2010

Anyone reading the award-winning match day magazine on Saturday will have seen a piece on defensive summer signing Kelvin Langmead.

In it, Langmead talked about his days as a striker and how he hoped to use it to his advantage in npower League One this season.

Against Bristol Rovers, Langmead made a key contribution in the final third of the field, going on a charging run and creating the all important opening goal for George Boyd.

'The manager has said use it to my advantage and that is what was in my mind when I got the ball. If I get a chance I want to show what I can do and I managed to pick the right pass at the right time.

'It was a pleasing performance from a team point of view, we looked fairly solid at the back although we have plenty of improvements to make as Joe Lewis was called upon several times to make really good stops.

'However, despite that, we looked very dangerous when we were going forward and we probably should have won the game by a far greater margin.

'We knew we had to be patient and we were, we knew they would try and defend at times and sit in and we had the nous to break them down,' Langmead said.

Langmead also hit the crossbar with a powerful header from a Grant McCann corner in the second period as further goals from Aaron Mclean and Grant McCann set the seal on a 3-0 win.
