Peterborough United striker Craig Mackail-Smith has admitted that he has no idea what pre-season training will entail this year, but believes that will keep the players on their toes.

Last year, Darren Ferguson was taking charge of his second pre-season so the players were familiar with what was coming, but with Gary Johnson at the helm, the front man admits it will be a fresh challenge.

'Darren had already taken a pre-season so we knew what to expect, but this year is different and I think that can be a good thing. I am excited about the new season as I am sure the supporters are.

'I did well at this level before and had a really good goal-scoring record so it would be great to be able to achieve that sort of total again this year.

'I am fully committed to Peterborough United and can't wait to get started. I am confident I can bang the goals in and with the squad we have, I am sure we will be challenging at the top,' Mackail-Smith told PUTV.
