Posh v Blackpool: The Match Preview

Posted on: Fri 23 Apr 2010

Peterborough United conclude their home league campaign on Saturday as play-off chasing Blackpool visit London Road (3pm).

The Seasiders will be looking for maximum points as they look to keep up the pressure on the teams currently occupying the play-off positions.

Posh boss Gary Johnson will be looking for a reaction following last weekend's heavy defeat at the hands of an in-form Reading side.

TEAM NEWS

It may be easier to declare who is fit rather than those that are unfit, but on the treatment table at the minute are Gabriel Zakuani (had a groin operation on Thursday, out for the season), Aaron Mclean (knee), Izale McLeod (knee), Sergio Torres (ankle), Lee Frecklington (hamstring) and Chris Whelpdale (ankle). There are doubts over the fitness of goalkeeper Joe Lewis, defender Scott Griffiths and winger Nathan Koranteng.

However, there is some good news with the return to fitness of striker Liam Dickinson, while full-back Danny Andrew has been recalled from a loan stint with Cheltenham Town.

Blackpool are without the services of midfielder Hameur Bouazza who has a groin strain. Danny Coid and Ben Burgess are unlikely to be involved. Jason Euell, Billy Clark and Steven Dobbie all scored in the reserves and are in contention for a starting berth.

MANAGER QUOTES

'Blackpool have done ever so well this season and credit must go to Ian Holloway and his management team for what they have achieved. They, like Leicester and Reading before, have got something to play for and I will be looking for my players to show a bit of character after last week's showing at Reading,' Gary Johnson said.

BETTING

Posh are priced at 5/1 to win the game with online bookmakers www.theposhbet.com with Blackpool clear favourites at 2/7.
