Peterborough United captain Joe Lewis has called on the squad to show some character in the final two league games of the season after a 6-0 drubbing at Reading.

Posh were outclassed by a rampant Reading side and while Lewis concedes that the Royals were on top form, he admits that the team let themselves down.

'We need to show some character and we didn't do that at Reading. We conceded an early goal and never ever got ourselves into the game.

'It was bitterly disappointing and nowhere near the standards we need to be achieving. We have two games left this season and we need to restore some pride and also show some character.

'For me personally, as a goalkeeper you are always going to have shots at your goal and there were plenty of them. It was a busy afternoon, but you have to give some credit to Reading, they played very well and we were not at the races,' Lewis said.

Manager Gary Johnson admitted that he would look at the DVD to see if any of his players can come out of the game with any credit.

'Joe had a lot to deal with and in my opinion the game could have finished 10-4. We had a few half-chances ourselves, but they could have scored more than they could. I will study the DVD and then see if anyone can come out with any credit, but without question, we were poor as individuals and poor as a team.'
