Gannon: 'Fans Deserve Away Win'

Posted on: Thu 11 Mar 2010

It has been a unrewarding season for Peterborough United fans who have travelled up and down the country supporting their side away from home.

Without an away win going into this weekend's clash at Vicarage Road against Watford, manager Jim Gannon is well aware that the supporters deserve an away day success.

Over 1,300 tickets have been sold in advance for the game so a healthy following of Posh fans is expected at Vicarage Road and Gannon is keen to reward them for their loyalty.

'It is overdue that we score a goal away from home and it is well overdue that we get an away win and it would be great to get back to back wins.

'The supporters have been up and down motorways all season without any reward, so it would be great if we can get a win for them because they haven't had much joy.

'I think they can see what we are trying to achieve at with the way we are playing. We have had phases of play in matches away from home, but we need to get that first goal.

'If we can keep a clean sheet till half time then we have a good opportunity to win the match because we have players who can score goals,' Gannon said.
