It has been a frustrating two seasons for Argentine midfielder Sergio Torres since joining the club from Wycombe Wanderers, but he was given his opportunity against Sheffield United in the second half and grasped that chance with both hands.

Torres was excellent at the heart of midfield in his 45-minute appearance and is hoping to have done enough to warrant a start this weekend at Watford.

He was also thrilled with the reaction of the supporters to his introduction and praised them for the backing he received throughout the 45 minutes.

'It was a great feeling to be back playing. I have been injured for a long time, but I have been back training for a few weeks now. I spoke to the manager this week because I have been on the bench, but not coming on and wanted to know if I was part of the plans.

'He gave me a chance against Sheffield United and I just wanted to work hard for the team and I really enjoyed myself. I have not had a good time here so far because of the injuries and everything, but hopefully I can have a good run now.

'It is a shame that we are bottom of the table, but the lads are still together and it was a great to be part of that team.

'It was a really nice feeling to hear the fans shouting my name, but to be fair the supporters have always been great to me. I had so many injuries last year and the team were doing so well and I didn't get the chance to play as many games as I would have liked, but I am working hard in training trying to do the right things to play well,'Torres said.
