Injury And Illness Affecting Squad

Posted on: Thu 28 Jan 2010

Peterborough United boss Mark Cooper admits that at present he would struggle to find an 11 to face Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The Posh camp has been hit by illness and injury with several players already ruled out of the Championship clash at Selhurst Park.

Craig Morgan is suspended and Gabriel Zakuani is ruled out with a groin strain, while Chris Whelpdale took a knock in Tuesday's defeat to Preston North End.

Josh Simpson took a kick to the bottom of the foot which is causing him discomfort, while George Boyd is still troubled by an ankle injury that nearly kept him out of the North End clash.

Aaron Mclean, Tommy Williams and Craig Mackail-Smith all missed training due to illness, while Exodus Geohaghon has a hamstring injury.

Charlie Lee has a dead leg while several other players missed training as a precaution. Cooper will assess the fitness of his squad on Friday morning before departing for Crystal Palace.
