Jake Livermore scored his first Peterborough United goal, but admitted it was a bittersweet afternoon with Posh crashing to a 2-1 defeat at Hillsborough.

Livermore popped up with a classy finish to set up a tense finale, but the Owls hung on for three points to dent the Posh survival hopes.

Livermore admitted it was great to score, but as it counted for nothing, it wasn't a goal to celebrate. 'It was a bittersweet afternoon for me to be honest.

'Scoring a goal is always a great feeling, but it didn't get us any points, so it is rather frustrating. It is hugely disappointing because we felt we could come to Sheffield Wednesday and win the game.

'It seems we don't really start playing until we are losing and that mentality has to change. We can't afford to give teams headstarts in matches. We have spoken about it in-house and we know that it needs to change.

'I was at Derby earlier in the season and have now come up against every team in the Championship and believe me, there is a lot of ability in the Posh dressing room and I am still confident we can escape the drop.

'We know it is going to be a hard task, but there is still a long way to go and plenty of points to play for. The thing about the Championship is that if you string a few wins together you can move up a lot of places.

'Sheffield Wednesday were one point clear of us a couple of weeks back and now they are 10 points clear, so it can be done,' Livermore said.
