Lewis Happy With His Form
Goalkeeper Joe Lewis put in arguably his best performance for Peterborough United as a string of stunning saves kept Tottenham Hotspur at bay during a hectic first period at White Hart Lane. The Premier League side went on to win 4-0 and seal their progress into round four of the FA Cup,but there was nothing Lewis could do about those strikes - his acrobatics were on show during the first 45 minutes.
Lewis saved brilliantly from Tom Huddlestone from distance, raced from his line to deny Jermain Defoe and dived at the feet of Robbie Keane.
He had his own personal dual with Keane, saving three times from the former Leeds United front man and he could do nothing when Niko Kranjcar unleashed a powerful shot from 25-yards to open the scoring.
Kranjcar added a second before Defoe and a late Keane penalty made it 4-0. Lewis admitted afterwards that he was happy with his own display and is determined to continue working hard and remain focussed on the job in hand.
'Many people have asked me if I am putting myself in the shop window with my performances, but I am very happy at Peterborough and focussed on each game in hand.
'Of course every player wants to play in the Premie r League, but my main aim is to keep Peterborough in the Championship and I am already looking forward to the clash at Sheffield Wednesday next week in the league.
'I was happy with my performance against Tottenham, I was busy in that first period and I felt I made some good saves, but Tottenham are a strong side.
'I firmly believe that Tottenham will break into the top four this season, they have an incredibly strong squad and you saw that they are hungry for success,' Lewis said.
