Posh v Watford: The Match Preview

Posted on: Fri 18 Dec 2009

Peterborough United host financially-stricken Watford at London Road on Saturday afternoon in the latest Coca-Cola Championship fixture (3pm).

The Hornets have had a turbulent week with the club set to enter administration after three resignations from the board of directors at Vicarage Road.

If they do enter administration, they will be docked 10 points, which will see the club fall to just above the relegation zone.

It hasn't been a bed of roses for Posh either this week with striker Aaron Mclean handing in a transfer request, but he is set to play against the Hornets.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are hopeful that defender Gabriel Zakuani will recover from a groin injury to take his place in the squad. He has missed the last two weeks of action.

Watford are not reporting any fresh injuries, but with the off the field problems, it is understandable that team news is not high on their agenda.

MANAGER QUOTES

'London Road can be a difficult place to play and we can make it a fortress. The teams that come to town have got to know they're in a game. The supporters can help as well by really getting behind the team. If they don't jump on every little mistake and cheer them on, I know the players really appreciate it and they have been fantastic since my arrival,' Cooper said.

FROM THE WATFORD CAMP

'It's been a long couple of months but to finally get back out there and play a complete game means a lot of my goals have been reached. Now it's just a matter of kicking on and trying to help out the team as much as possible,' centre back Jay DeMerit said.
