Coventry v Posh: The Match Preview

Posted on: Fri 11 Dec 2009

Peterborough United will be looking to stretch their mini-unbeaten run to four games this weekend when Mark Cooper's men face Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena (3pm).

The Sky Blues are without a win in 10 games and were beaten by Newcastle United in mid-week, a match that was watched by the Posh boss.

TEAM NEWS

Young full-back Jordan Clarke is a doubt after limping out of the Newcastle defeat, while midfielder Isiah Osbourne has been ruled out for up to eight weeks.

Posh are still sweating on the fitness of defender Gabriel Zakuani who has a groin strain, while Paul Coutts is a doubt with a shoulder injury.

MANAGER QUOTES

'The chairman and the rest of the board have been fantastic. They are fully in the loop and understand what I want to do when the next transfer window opens.

'There's a couple of players we need to move on and we need fresh blood in some areas. But in the meantime we have to go with what we've got and chase that elusive win.

'Yes, Peterborough is now our biggest game of the season - every game we play and don't win becomes massive, and Saturday is far more important to us than tonight,' Coleman said.

'Myself and my assistant watched Coventry play Newcastle in the week and they were unlucky to lose the game in the manner that they did. They are obviously short of confidence and we need to try and take advantage of that. We have been defending well, but we need to there and be positive,' Cooper said.
