Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson was delighted with the double capture of defenders Ryan Bennett and Scott Griffiths, with the pair agreeing loan deals at London Road.
Bennett (19) and Griffiths (23) trained with their new team-mates on Friday and will be considered for the squad for Saturday's clash with Scunthorpe United.
'Ryan is a good signing for the football club, he is one that we looked at in the summer. He is a mature 19-year-old, has captained Grimsby before. He is a good size, has good potential and I am looking forward to working with him.
'Scott is a left-back who has played a lot of games and there have been one or two clubs interested in signing him. We were one of those clubs and we are pleased to have him on board.
'I have two left backs, Tom Williams and Jamie Day, who are both out of contract in the summer and Jamie in particular is in a situation where we knew he would not play as many games.
'It was always going to be a hard one, he picked up an injury earlier in the campaign and that was a blow because we wanted to get him out to play games.
'I had no real choice in playing him on Tuesday at Doncaster and he knows himself that his performance wasn't the best, but in fairness his team-mates didn't help him out much. Charlie's fitness is down and Tommy's injured, so it is an area that we wanted to strengthen a little bit.
'Scott has been on the radar for a bit. He is not the biggest, but has a great spring and is good in the air. He has decent pace, a good left-foot and is a good acquisition.
'They both fit into the budget and I am pleased to have them on board. I am not going to chuck them in against Scunthorpe as they have only had one training session with us, but they will be in the squad,' Ferguson said.
The Posh boss also praised the attitude of striker Danny Mills, who has been allowed to join Blue Square Premier League side Rushden and Diamonds.
'Danny is a lovely lad, really wants to be a player, he has a great attitude. Every day in training he wants to do extra and he is a pleasure to work with. He is trying very hard and he is refreshing, not chip on his shoulder or anything like that.
'He just needs to get out and play games to aid his development. He didn't get as many games as we would have liked at Torquay United, but he enjoyed it. I spoke to him, he trained on Thursday and he will go to Rushden and play.
'Justin Edinburgh will look after him at Nene Park, they are a good footballing team with good facilities and it will certainly help his development as a player,' Ferguson added.
