Peterborough United club captain Russell Martin has insisted that the squad are still 'together' and is convinced that the club will soon start climbing the Championship table.

Martin revealed that the players had a meeting following the 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at London Road before manager Darren Ferguson revealed a few home truths.

'We had a meeting amongst ourselves in the dresing room and said a few things. There was no arguing, it was a chat about we feel has gone wrong of late and it was constructive.

'We knew that the gaffer had a few things to say and to be fair everything he said, we were well aware of ourselves, it is just getting the improvement on the pitch that we need to deliver.

'We know it is not good enough at the moment and we have around two weeks before our next game to put things right. There is a lot of hard work that we need to do on the training pitch and we are prepared to roll our sleeves up.

'Against Nottingham Forest, we got ourselves ahead and it was a bit of a relief and I think the gaffer said that we probably over-celebrated and that is probably fair.

'We conceded two very sloppy goals. The first one is a fluke and nine times out of 10 it would not have ended up there and the second one we needed to get closer to the player delivering the cross. They are basic things, but we are 11 matches in now and have to cut the errors out,' Martin said.
