Coutts Delighted To Make Under-21 Debut

Posted on: Mon 07 Sep 2009

Peterborough United midfielder Paul Coutts was a proud man this morning after arriving back in the county after taking part in the Scotland under 21s European Championship qualifier against Austria on Saturday evening.

Scotland narrowly missed out with the game finishing 1-0 to the hosts but Coutts was delighted to make his first competitive start for his country.

'It was a great experience for me, we are just obviously disappointed we didn't win. They are all good lads and it was good to go back to Scotland. The gaffer was happy with my performance just like all the lads but he was just gutted we didn't get the result. It was my first competitive game and I was just pleased to be involved.' Coutts told theposh.com.

The former Cove Rangers star played 89 minutes before being sacrificed for another striker as the Scotland youngsters pushed for an equaliser.
