Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Lewis does not have happy memories of facing penalty kicks, so when Gabriel Zakuani was penalised for tripping Tamas Priskin, a bit of apprehension crept in.

Lewis was at the centre of the controversy at the New Den last season when he made two saves from the spot only for the referee to order a third re-take.

The shot-stopper was alleged to have moved from his goal-line on each occasion, but television cameras showed that if there was movement, it was minimal.

So when Priskin stepped up for Ipswich Town in the second round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday evening, Lewis was determined not to make any sudden movements forward.

'I was consciously trying to stay on my line a bit more.I was actually behind the line as he stepped up and I think I learned my lesson. If it had been re-taken, I don't know what I would of done. I would have been bitterly upset.

'I was pleased with the save and the lads went on and did their job and we were able to get the win we wanted. I think missing the penalty jolted Ipswich a bit and gave us the confidence. That sometimes happens.

'Hopefully it will prove to be the turning point in our season. A good cup run is vital to the club, we as players want to progress as far as we can in the competition,' Lewis said.
