Peterborough United have arranged a friendly fixture with Steve Bruce's Sunderland at London Road on Tuesday 4th August (7.45pm) and the Premier League side have confirmed they will be bringing a full first team for the fixture.
It completes an extremely attractive pre-season schedule, which has been put together to celebrate the club's 75th anniversary. Aston Villa (18th July), Tottenham Hotspur (21st July) and Fulham (25th July) have already promised first team's and Director of Football Barry Fry is delighted that Sunderland have been added to the list.
'I have spoken to Steve Bruce and he has told me that he will bring the Sunderland first team to London Road and I am sure that will be the perfect test before the season opens at Derby County on Saturday 8th August. Sunderland are a massive club with a huge fan base and I am sure they will bring with them a large away following.
'Our pre-season schedule is an exciting one and I am sure the supporters will agree it is a great way to celebrate our 75th anniversary. To have Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Sunderland visiting London Road is superb and I am sure the players will relish the opportunity of playing such a good calibre of teams,' Fry said.
